Direct Debit & European Payment Processing
For hundreds of millions of online consumers across Europe and around the world, credit cards are not the preferred method of payment, even where credit cards are available. For merchants looking to sell to the global market, it’s important to go beyond credit cards and US bank debit cards and reach lots of interested customers who don’t have credit cards. Through IPS, you can reach valuable European customers with our Direct Pay EU and EU Debit solutions.
Direct Pay EU
This bank-based payment system is popular in 36 European countries, and greatly reduces the complexity of integration. Rather than the merchant presenting payment forms to the consumer, the merchant links the customer directly to their bank with a transaction ID to enable the payment through their bank’s trusted interfaces. After the payment is received the customer is emailed a receipt and they can collect their purchase.
European Direct Debit (EUDD)
European Direct Debit is another bank-based payment system very popular in some of Europe’s most important countries for online commerce, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, France, The Netherlands and more. This standard is expanding across the greater EU region and brings added benefits to merchants, including automated recurring transactions, optional chargeback/returns management and the ability for merchants to avoid sending their customers off their website to make a payment.
